The retail sector will face certain trading restrictions on Anzac Day, April 25, which falls on a Wednesday. Trading hours restrictions apply, in part or whole, to particular types of stores and the locations of shops in specified areas of certain states. Under NSW law, Anzac Day is classified as a restricted trading day, with large retailers including Coles, Aldi and Woolworths not permitted to open before 1:00pm. In previous years, the NSW government would allow IR inspectors to use “common sense” Hoyts will trade as normal in NSW, SA, WA and ACT while Victoria and Queensland venues will open from 1pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday.
